Luma Health uses AWS CloudFront as a CDN distribute the next.lumahealth.io application to the edge. Part of the CloudFront distribution is a set of Lambda functions which control certain headers that are delivered to web browsers to enforce various policies.

At 2:46 PM PT, a Luma Health engineer pushed a testing Lambda configuration ahead of schedule, and as such accidentally attached to a the CloudFront distribution before the necessary matching changes were pushed to the distribution.

Luma Health monitoring alerted to this error at 2:47 PM PT and a response team started to work on reverting the change. Access was restored by 2:59 PM PT.

No patient communication was impacted, but next.lumahealth.io was unavailable. We are reviewing our deployment timing procedures in order to mitigate this from happening again.
